Fifth Conference for International Cooperation and Human Rights of Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals and Transexuals
Homosexuality and transexuality are still punishible in dozens of countries. In many others, the authorities do not guarantee the human rights of the LGBT population and in some even loving persons of the same sex will cost you capital punishment.
For more than a decade, the Fundación Triángulo has been working for the social equality of lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transexuals in different parts of our world. In particular in Latin America and in Africa, where it has cooperated with local groups from the south and with local and international governments and administrations to advance the protection of the human rights in a broader sense and without excluding any part of the population.
From 28 September to 3 October 2010 we invite you to participate in this international conference which will be held in Sevilla (Conference) and Huelva (Pre-conference), where you will get to know the position of activists and defenders of human rights in Senegal, Cabo Verde, Cameroon, Bolivia, Chile, Peru, Nicaragua and many other countries.
Among other topics, you will be able to attend presentations and roundtables about the position of the lesbian women, the quality of Spanish financing, the HIV situation in America and in Africa and many other issues contained in the program. Furthermore, there will be various workshops in which you will actively participate and learn from the experiences of colleagues in other parts of the world. In addition, two free elective credits have been requested from the University of Seville, so the conference can be recognized academically.
The conference also has the support of the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Delegation of Huelva, the City Council of Seville and other administrations still pending confirmation.
From the Fundación Triángulo we want to invite you to have an active role in our society. Contrary to the appearance that everything has already been done regarding LGBT equality, we propose that during these days we reflect about the situation in other countries and with the power of our imagination we contribute to make this world a more just and happier place.
To be informed about their situation is already a way to support them. Come and participate. Space is limited. Remember than you can request a room and board grant to attend the conference.
